A free and fair global market

Good global, competitive conditions are fundamental for an internationally operating Danish shipping industry. Therefore, one of the cornerstones of the Danish Shipowners’ Association is its work to combat all forms of protectionism.

The Danish Shipowners’ Association works for an open market and fair competition, so the foundation for Danish shipping’s global activities and continuing growth can be maintained.

Global economic growth over the past decades has been created through free trade, liberalisation and the international division of labour in the trade of goods and services. The international shipping industry and not least the Danish shipping industry play a vital role as transportation at sea continues to be a prerequisite for this development.

Internationally, shipping is generally characterised by liberal market conditions compared to many other sectors. Despite this there are still countries leading a protectionist market policy, just as other trade policy issues often arise in the maritime industry.
