Due to the increasing piracy problem in Somalia, Western Indian Ocean waters and Gulf of Aden, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has in cooperation with among others the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) sent a letter to the Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, United Nations, requesting further support regarding the piracy problem.
