At its formation in 1968, the Danish Car Ferry Association was an employers' association, but was expanded into a trade association in 1975.

The purpose of the Association is to unify Danish car ferry associations with mutual interests and to represent the associations’ interests towards the public and in relation to Danish and foreign authorities, including representing ferry services in councils, on boards etc. Furthermore, the Association manages its members’ interests in all matters concerning employees, officials and their organisations.
