Mission and Vision

The mission is: To maintain and strengthen the competitiveness of Danish shipping

This must be done through reliable, continuous and sustained efforts and by a wide representation of interests in all relevant forums, regionally, nationally and internationally and by providing all our members with practical, relevant and valuable advice.

The Danish Shipowners' Association focuses on members’ best interests, which means:

• Ensuring favourable business conditions including taxes and duties, conditions for ship registration as well as liability and insurance terms.
• Ensuring competitive and up-to-date employment conditions for Danish and foreign seafarers.
  
• Ensuring that the demands for both the construction and the operation on Danish ships regarding safety and the environment reflect the international standards and rules of the UN International Maritime Organisation
  
• Contributing towards minimising administrative burden by establishing effective industry-specific schemes.

The vision is: A world class profession and Association

This does not mean that Danish shipping must be the world's largest, or that the Danish Shipowners’ Association should provide a rallying ground for companies from throughout the world. Rather, Danish shipping companies should be among the best in terms of efficiency and price and similarly the Danish Shipowners' Association should be the best, with a corresponding service for its members.

Core values

In this endeavour the Association will cooperate with Parliament, ministries and councils, as well as other parties, including unions, sister organisations abroad etc. Cooperation must be based on the following core values:

• Work by the Danish Shipowners' Association must be knowledge-based and based on professional involvement. The Association possesses, seeks, challenges and coordinates knowledge to advise and represent Danish shipping. The Association not only ensures the knowledge required through its highly qualified employees, it also seeks advice from external experts nationally and abroad.Furthermore the Association propagates its knowledge through a professional relationship with the press.
• The Danish Shipowners' Association is results-oriented. In this endeavour the Association is ambitious and focused, and seeks effective solutions for Danish shipping. The Association has a well defined overall strategy, but, incollaboration with the members, the Association will take into account what is realistic, in order to set technically realistic goals with a realistic time horizon.
• An important core value for the Danish Shipowners' Association is credibility. The Association seeks durable solutions, helps with timely, factual arguments and keeps to its agreements. The Association considers it crucial that potential problems and issues are highlighted from the beginning, and that the confidentiality under which information may be given is fully respected. If no durable solutions are achieved, prospects must be communicated to members and stakeholders.
• A durable solution will also be forward-looking. On the basis of its knowledge and experience, the Association is innovative, receptive and visionary and works for long-term holistic solutions. In routine work it is therefore not only necessary to find solutions or responses to specific issues; it is also important to be able to predict the immediate perspectives of different solutions, with an eye for the challenges that often exist in parallel and, moreover, not just take no for an answer.
