Trade and shipping policy

The department for Trade and Shipping Policy is responsible for the interests of member shipping companies and sector stakeholders in relation to political bodies, public authorities. The department deals with shipping policy, market access, taxation, financing, economic policy, general EEC matters, public relations, statistics etc. The department keeps abreast of activities in areas that are important for members' business: international shipping policy, industrial policy, tax policy and more. The department informs the members about current issues and presents members’ views in relevant bodies.

Department functions are carried out through close contact with the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international maritime organisations. With regard to Danish political bodies, the main task is to ensure a healthy business environment with high competitiveness for Danish shipping and shipbuilding. Questions regarding construction of ships and subsidies are often important topics.
